Jamaica Plain Youth Soccer

Jamaica Plain Youth Soccer is a community soccer program for boys and girls in Boston, Massachusetts. Each year we offer Spring and Fall seasons in our Academy Program (Grades 1 through 4) and our Travel Program (Grades 3 through 12). Grade 9 through 12 travel teams, however, are only available in the Spring.

Fall 2020 Registration

Registration for Grade 3-8 Travel Teams is Open

In preparation for a likely fall soccer season, registration is now open for children that will be entering grades 3 through 8 in the Fall of 2020. While a final decision on whether a full soccer season will be possible or not is yet to be made, we are planning for the likelihood that we will be running programs in the Fall. With a staged reopening currently underway in Massachusetts, there are still many questions about what soccer programs JPYS will be able to offer for the upcoming season, but we have decided to open up registration for Grades 3 - 8. Our final decision about what soccer activities we will ultimately provide will be guided by information and regulations provided by the CDC, state and local governments and Mass Youth Soccer. Of course the safety of the children and families of the JPYS soccer community will be paramount in our decision-making.

If you are interested in registering your child(ren), registration is now open and you can do so now through August 7, 2020. If you do not register by August 7th, and the season goes forward, we cannot guarantee a place on a travel team. With the possibility that the season could be canceled or, come late August, you decide you are not comfortable having your child(ren) participate in soccer activities, a full refund or credit of your registration fees will be offered. We fully recognize the fluidity of the situation of the pandemic and that things can change.

If you paid registration and/or uniform fees for the cancelled Spring 2020 season and did not request a refund, the amount you paid in the Spring will show up as a credit on your account, which can be applied to this season or to a future season. After you enroll your player, when you get to the check-out screen, you will see a prompt that says, “Your account has a credit balance of $___.00. ⬜ Yes, apply my account credit to this order.” To apply the credit to this season, just check the box.

If your credit is missing or incorrect, please let us know and we will help sort it out. The credit does not affect your ability to use the financial assistance option, whether or not you sought financial assistance for Spring 2020 or whether or not you asked for a refund of fees.

COVID Restrictions and Returning to Soccer

As we are in the reopening phases of the COVID-19 situation, JPYS is reviewing guidance from the CDC, the State, and local health departments, as well as Massachusetts Youth Soccer and the Bay Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) league to make our plans for Fall 2020. As new information regarding field space and league plans surface, we plan to proceed with your children's safety and the community's safety in mind. We intend to have decisions about the Fall season made well before the traditional start of the season, and expect to announce details about the fall season and to open registration (if appropriate) no later than mid-summer. Please check back here for updates.

In the meantime, we know that many kids are eager to get out to the local parks to play soccer! JPYS does not typically offer a summer program, and this year is no exception. Nevertheless, we recognize that many JPYS families, including our volunteer coaches, will want to take to the fields to make up for lost time. If you choose to do so, we highly recommend these resources to help you participate in unofficial sports activities SAFELY:

Guidelines put forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (as a reminder, Massachusetts is currently in Phase 2 for Reopening):

Mass Youth Soccer has a web page devoted to returning to play, including Guidelines in PDF format that can be downloaded:

Stay safe everyone; we hope to see you soon back on the soccer fields!

#FixPagel

Great job, JPYS Community! Through the efforts of our petition to the City of Boston for new turf at Pagel Field, we have a commitment from the Parks and Recreation Department for turf replacement in the Spring of 2020. While we will more officially celebrate success once kids are playing on the new field, today we will take some pride in our efforts to get a commitment to take action from the City.
