Jamaica Plain Youth Soccer

Jamaica Plain Youth Soccer is a community soccer program for boys and girls in Boston, Massachusetts. Each year we offer Spring and Fall seasons in our Academy Program (Grades 1 through 4) and our Travel Program (Grades 3 through 12). Grade 9 through 12 travel teams, however, are only available in the Spring.

Spring 2021 Season

Registration for the Spring 2021 season for Grades 3-8 is now open. The registration deadline is January 15, 2021.

With the ongoing COVID situation, there are still questions about what soccer programs JPYS will be able to offer for the upcoming season. While a final decision on whether a full soccer season will be possible is yet to be made, we are planning for the likelihood that we will be running programs in the Spring.

For travel soccer, our participation in the Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) league has not yet been determined by the JPYS Board of Directors, but we have added a few questions to the registration process to help us understand how JPYS families are feeling about their children’s participation in spring soccer programs. Our final decision about what soccer activities we will ultimately provide will be guided by information and regulations provided by the CDC, state and local governments, Mass Youth Soccer, and JPYS families. The safety of JPYS players and families, as well as our greater community, will be paramount in our decision-making.

With a slight possibility that the season could be canceled or, if you decide you are not comfortable having your child participate in soccer activities, a full refund or credit of your registration fees will be offered.

Information about registering for Grade 1-2 Academy, and Grade 9-12 Travel will be available in the coming weeks.

Fall 2020 Season Ending

Because of the recent rise in COVID cases in Boston and across the region, JPYS has decided to end the soccer season at the end of this weekend. The Nov 7th games for grades 3-8 and Nov. 8th's U8 Academy will be the last official JPYS soccer activities of the Fall season. It is with some sadness that I write this, as soccer has been a true bright spot in our lives this fall and I know we’ve all enjoyed the outdoor time together and having an activity for our children.

I want to thank our coaches for helping us have a successful soccer season. Without their time, energy, and additional attention to COVID safety guidelines, we owe them our thanks. Thank you coaches! Youth soccer in our community doesn't happen without you.

And thank you families for being so conscientious and for encouraging and helping your kids adjust to wearing face masks while playing, practicing physical distancing where possible, and applying that hand sanitizer. We were able to have a safe season of soccer because everyone did their part to help make it happen.

I know we will all miss having soccer in our lives during the upcoming months. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and this will not be the end of our outdoor activities. I encourage everyone to bundle up and head out to the field with your soccer ball whenever you get the chance. We’re New Englanders, after all! And once spring rolls around, we’ll hopefully be back out on the field again.

Stay safe, everyone, and enjoy this last weekend of JP Youth Soccer. Thank you again for helping make this season a success
